Welcome to the Eagle House. Do you need a peaceful quiet time to heal your body or soul, finish writing a book or just have the most relaxing vacation you have ever had then this is just what you are looking for. Stay at the Eagle House away from crowded motels, beaches, expensive restaurants, and traffic congested roads of Bar Harbor; and about one hour away from this tourist Mecca.


Located just 5 hours Northeast of Boston, and about an hour from Bar Harbor and Acadia is this modern, quiet, and private full size 3-bedroom house with 2 full baths has ocean views from almost every window. A spacious 16 x 40 foot deck has a screened gazebo with gas barbeque. From the deck, you have a 180-degree panoramic view of the working bay and a busy bald eagle nest, which is active April thru August. The eagles have been fascinating and inspirational to watch as they go through their daily routine. The property has been declared by Maine as Essential Habitat to this pair of Bald Eagles who have nested on the adjacent off Shore Island, they are sitting on their nest right now. This was built in 2004 as a full size guesthouse. It is fully equipped and decorated with antiques galore and is part of a 25-acre compound. It comfortably accommodates up to 5 people. There are cathedral ceilings throughout the house and the basement library has 100's of videos, books and vintage board games. Full size appliances include everything imaginable except landline telephone, cable television, and Internet Cell phones, especially Verizon work great here.


With 1500 feet of private shoreline - it is a truly peaceful and quiet spot to relax, read, work or play. It is on tidal water, with a 100-foot dock and open ocean easily accessible during high tide, and is ideal for beachcombing or bird watching during low tide. Three Old Town sea kayaks and life jackets are provided.

There is no noise from cars or people, only lobster boats, eagles and seagulls. The closest neighbors except us are about a half-mile away.

All you need to bring is yourself, clothes, toiletries, and food (excellent grocery stores, organic farmer's market and a fresh fish market are very close at probably much lower prices than most tourist areas) everything else is provided. During growing season we often have plenty of organic vegetables and herbs to share from our own garden.


Pets are welcome, and our two labs love company. A $50.00 deposit is required and normally refunded after departure. This guesthouse is available ONLY for two weeks each summer when our relatives and family are not using it. Please give us plenty of notice of the period you would want so we can work it out with our family.

Quiet and scenic walks in the surrounding area can keep you in shape or Acadia and two state parks are less than an hour away. There is freshwater and salt-water swimming at either park.

Wildlife includes: deer, porcupines and red squirrels, occasional black bear, moose plus birds galore including nesting hummingbirds.

When using the kayaks you will see the eagles, seals, cormorants, and occasional loons. When walking or sitting on the deck on occasional pine martin and fox have been spotted.

Free Internet is available at local libraries 2 and 8 miles away.

This is the perfect vacation home for people who want to get away from noise, crowds and get back to the basics of getting to know each other, their children, friends or relatives again. You can find plenty to do here without ever having to drive your car anywhere, if that is what you wish.

• Deposits: $500.00 sent at the time the reservation is made.
   
• Other Fees: Mandatory $25.00 extra per night per person for guests not on the original reservation. Due to having a well and septic system there is a maximum of 5 guests allowed per stay including guests not on the reservations -- plus your pets. Full payment is required upon arrival. No smoking is allowed inside the house. Fresh linens and towels are provided along with a washer and dryer plus outside clothesline. There is no maid service but if desired this can be arranged reasonably.
